Time to Pay is the story of ex-con (SHAFER) trying to reintegrate against the odds. DONAL TAVEY'S Chicago-Set is as strong on rapid-sketch character studies as on bluish atmospheres. At it's center is a Polack parolee, and ex-basketball player who betrayed his talent, now caught between a rock and a hard place, he tries to rebuild his life and make familial contacts. A hardass angel and his new probation officer points toward s the right direction to work at a car wash: while forceful reminders of an old debt to a local gangster tug him away from the cleansing line....it's time to pay.
